Charles Ullman of Charles R. Ullman & Associates, PLLC dicusses why you should avoid trusting online divorce and child custody forms.

Interviewer: Why should somebody hire you if a lot of these documents are available online or there’s a calculator I can use for child custody? Why should I hire you?

Charles: Because we’re able to provide the wisdom based on experience that you need to figure out what is the best resolution for you, and the forms, while they’re out there, you fill in the blank. There’s issues of, is it binding? Do you really want it to be binding to the extent that it is? And there are a lot of complications that come up with people figuring out even something like child support because people have bonus structures or other compensation, or they have a lot of extracurricular activities, and who’s going to pay for those and to what extent? And those really are not covered by the guidelines. So if you have soccer or something else your children do that you spend a couple thousand dollars on, that’s not included. How is that going to be accounted for? We provide advice to people and that’s what you’re paying us for.
