Distance changes everything in custody planning. The further apart the parents live, the more limited the visitation options are for the parents. If someone lives 20 or 30 minutes away from the other parent, the court can do just about any type of visitation schedule. Whereas if someone lives far away from the other parent, for whatever reason, the options become very limited.

Limited visitation periods that are longer in duration and in longer periods of not seeing a child. If you're considering moving or the other parents considering moving, it's important to address those quickly and before the move, if at all possible.
